Altamont City Council members Monday discussed resurfacing Main Street, but will likely consider the matter in earnest after the first of the year.

The project would stretch from the four-way stop at Route 40 north to Monroe Street. There was some concern that such a major project would be tough to get designed and built this construction season.

The Council discussed trading some current equipment for a backhoe or mini-excavator, and agreed to purchase of mower from Wildbur's in Altamont for $2,000. Council members also heard that street lighting on Do It Drive at the Home Center on the south end is being replaced.

Council members also gave approval to a Roadside Fundraiser for Big Brothers/Big Sisters set for June 16.
