Local Dog Entered in Humane Society Fundraiser in Champaign

Effingham High School graduate Taylor Weiser is attempting to raise funds for the Champaign County Humane Society in a rather unique way.

Weiser and some friends have entered an Effingham dog, Punkin the Ewok Puppy, in a craft beer fundraiser. The dog is entered in the Humane Society's "Mutt Strut", with a goal to raise $5,000.

If the puppy wins first place, its image will be placed on its very own can of Tryptych beer. If the dog wins, all donors of at least $25 will receive a pack of the beer.

The event will conclude with a dog walk on Sunday, May 7 at Crystal Lake Park in Urbana from 4-7pm.
