The Cowden-Herrick school board has elected its officers for the next term.

Greg Jones was elected board president, while Zach Sarver was chosen vice president and Megan Miller was elected board secretary.

In other action at this month's board meeting, the Cowden-Herrick board approved the E-Rate fiber optic and phone service proposal grant; bus cameras were purchased from Craig Antenna in Pana; and a donation was accepted from the CHBC girls basketball program for four new backboards for the Cowden High School gym.

The Board approved a dual credit Speech class for the coming school year curriculum, and approved a non-dual credit college Algebra class for the coming year. Board members also hired Andy Nohren, Leroy Shellenbarger and Madonna Shellenbarger as summer custodial help for 10 weeks.
