Charleston police are still seeking the shooter in a weekend incident that killed one person and wounded another.

An Eastern Illinois University student, 23-year-old Bryon Edingburg, was fatally injured when shot just before 2:30am Saturday in the 1000th block of 7th Street in Charleston. Edingburg was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana, where he died of his injuries. Another person was wounded. That person was treated and has been released.

A Charleston Police Department detective said Monday morning that the shooting occurred at a college party. Police are investigating reports that a fight or fights escalated resulting in the shooting. They have also been told by witnesses that only one shot might have been fired, striking both Edingburg and the injured person.

Police received another report of shots being fired just after 3am Saturday, but no one was injured and no other information is available on the incident.

If you have information on the incident, contact Charleston police at 217-345-8402 or phone the Crimestoppers tip line at 1-866-345-8488. You can also text leads to 274637.
