Effingham is a great place to have a pet.

That's according to Millenial Personal Finance's "Most Pet Friendly Cities" report.

Millenial Personal Finance's Dave Chen said the rankings were compiled by using licensed data from Onboard Informatics and Millenial's scoring system. Over 5,000 towns and cities with a population above 10,000 in the United States were evaluated.

Three parameters were used: pet services available, pet health establishments, and pet essentials.

Pet services included walking services, training services, washing and grooming services, and boarding services.

Pet health establishments included veterinarians, animal hospitals and animal shelters.

Pet essentials included parks, food retail stores and pet stores.

Once the exact number of services and places was determined, the total was divided by the total population of each community, resulting in the Pet Friendliness Indicator.
