Details on Two Crashes Resulting in Injuries in City

Details are in on two crashes in the city that resulted in injuries.

One crash occurred at 2:15pm Friday at Oak and Edgar. City police report a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Jeanette Bird of Effingham struck a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Erin McGee of Effingham.

A passenger in Bird's vehicle, 14-year-old Brandy Bird of Effingham, was injured and taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Jeanette Bird was cited for improper lane usage and a seat belt violation.

The other crash occurred at 3:53pm Monday at Fayette and Jefferson. Police report a tow truck driven by 26-year-old Glen Diel of St. Peter failed to stop for a line of stopped vehicles, causing a five-vehicle chain reaction crash. The other four involved vehicles were driven by 38-year-old Travis Watkins of Toledo, 57-year-old Thomas Schmidt of Effingham, 21-year-old Lauren Jansen of Teutopolis, an 61-year-old Janet Robey of Hidalgo.

A passenger in Watkins' vehicle, 37-year-old Christina Watkins of Toledo, was injured and was taken by private vehicle to St. Anthony's. 

No citations were issued in the crash.
