City Police Investigate Burglary at Residence; Theft of Air Conditioner

Effingham city police are investigating a burglary to a residence.

The break-in occurred at a residence in the 800 block of Richland Avenue between 4:50pm Monday and 2pm Tuesday. 

An undetermined number of power tools were stolen. Multiple fixtures were damaged during the incident, including an exterior door, sink and water lines. The damage is estimated at $300.

City police are also looking into theft of an air-conditioning unit from Merz Heating and Air at 509 South Willow. The theft occurred sometime between 5pm Monday and 7:30am Tuesday.

The unit, which had been stored outside the building, is valued at $350.
