One person was injured in a construction zone crash west of Effingham on I-70 Friday afternoon.
The crash occurred at 2:55pm. State police say a car driven by 20-year-old William Goggin of Eureka, Missouri and a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Dominic Saron of St. Peters, Missouri were westbound through the construction zone when Goggin was distracted by something inside his vehicle and rear-ended Saron's truck. The impact caused Saron's truck to travel into the barricaded left westbound lane and strike a parked truck.
Saron was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Goggin was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash that tied up westbound traffic for a period of time Friday.
