Adam Bussard is leaving his job as superintendent of Brownstown Unit 201 School District.

Bussard is taking the job of Assistant Superintendent of the Chillicothe IVC Unit 321 School District. The district is located north of Peoria and serves about 2,200 students.

Bussard will assume his IVC duties on July 1. He will continue to serve at Brownstown through June 30.

Bussard has served as superintendent the past few years, after arriving in the district in 2007. This year, after the departure of the former grade school principal, the school board decided to have Bussard designated as grade school principal, with he and junior-senior high school principal Mike Shackelford sharing the building administrator duties.

The Brownstown board at this week's meeting named Shackelford to serve as superintendent for the coming school year and to hire Sherry Harmon as elementary school principal for the coming year.

Also at this week's meeting, the Brownstown board employed non-tenure teachers Jordyn Sussenbach, Jennifer Kesl, Kimberly Splechter and Kayla Hingson for next year; and hired non-certified staffers for next year including custodians Evelyn Wells, Jodi Winkler and Steve Waltrip; cooks Karen Portz, Diane Smith and Nikki Sidwell; secretaries Ashley Towler and Shelly Thomason; teacher aides Verla Reed, Stacy Sidwell, Sara Cortelloni, Stacey Summers and Marisa Thomason; bus drivers Paul Parkison, David Portz, Sam Kistler, Richard Cade and Deb Hunter; nurse Jenna Townsend; district bookkeeper/secretary/treasurer Jacy Schaub; and transportation secretary Deb Hunter, and employed Randy Sasse for lawn maintenance this summer.

The Brownstown board also approved two coaches for this spring; Monica Wilhour for junior high Track and Logan Mahon for high school spring baseball.
