Dieterich school board members issued a position statement at this week's meeting on how they would use the revenue generated by a county facilities tax on the April 4 ballot.

If the tax question passes, Dieterich board members said they would:

--pay existing building bonds and interest that are currently being levied against property tax payers until they are paid off

--continue to repair and renovate existing school facilities as needs arise

--not use the funds for salaries or any other expense within the District except as authorized by statute

Also this week, the Dieterich board approved technology upgrades for the District through Quality Network Solutions. The upgrades include the purchase of an off-lease server, 35 off-lease computers, and a new firewall. Dieterich Superintendent Cary Jackson said the upgrades keep the District's technology program up-to-date.

In personnel moves, the Dieterich board accepted the resignations of After School Program Director Elaina LaPage and Program Aide Janet Nisbett, and the resignation of assistant high school softball coach Mark Vahling, and hired Jason Newkirk to replace Vahling.

The Board also renewed Dieterich High School's membership in the Illinois High School Association for 2017-2018, and accepted the fiscal year district library grant of $750. The grant, received through the Illinois Secretary of State's Office, provides supplementary support for the district's library media program.
