Three vehicles collided on US Route 40 at Lake Sara Road Monday evening.

The call came just before 5:30pm. Units involved were driven by 36-year-old James Riley of Ramsey, 36-year-old Vicki Grobengieser of Altamont, and 30-year-old Jennifer DeWeese of Effingham.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports that DeWeese's car was stopped with its turn signal operating, waiting to turn left and go north on Lake Sara Road. Grobengieser's car was behind DeWeese's vehicle, but Riley was unable to stop in time and rear-ended Grobengieser's car, pushing Grobengieser's car into the rear of the DeWeese car.

Grobengieser and DeWeese were both injured and were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Riley was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
