Effingham city police have arrested a local resident on counts of burglary and theft.

18-year-old Alex Jackman was arrested Sunday on counts of residential burglary, criminal damage to property and theft by obtaining control over stolen property.

Effingham Police Chief Jeff Fuesting said Jackman is accused in connection with a break-in in the 100 block of St. Anthony Avenue on February 19. Fuesting said city police located Jackman about 4:30pm Sunday in a traffic stop, and found in the vehicle property from the burglary.

Fuesting said the criminal damage count stems from damage done to a door at the residence to gain entry.

Jackman was taken to Effingham County Jail.
