National Lutheran School Week for 2017

It's National Lutheran Schools Week for 2017.

Trinity Lutheran School in Stewardson began its celebration with student participation by singing in the February 26 worship service and the annual spaghetti dinner this past weekend. Sunday also included classroom tours, an all school performance, and pre-registration for the coming school year.

There is a theme for each day this week. Today it's "Upon the Rock of Jesus: Jesus is the Rock of the School". Students were encouraged to wear their hat and sunglasses and other "beach" attire. A scavenger hunt is planned with chapel families, and the lunch menu a McRib and hashbrowns.

Other theme days:

Tuesday--Upon the Rock of Ages: Lutheran School History...wear your mismatched clothes...some school history of Trinity by Alumnae...and a lunch menu of Culver's corn dogs, chicken fingers and cheeseburgers

Wednesday--The House Upon the Rock: Family Ministry...dress up for your favorite career...Read with a Buddy Day within your church family starting with Stone Soup...and a menu featuring scrambled eggs, pancakes and sausage

Thursday--Upon the Rock of Refuge: Lutheran Schools/Safe Places...wear your new Trinity Tie-dye T-Shirts...Bowling at Silver Dollar Lanes in Effingham from 12:30-2pm...and all students and parent chaperones will enjoy pizza for lunch

Friday--Building Upon the Rock: The Mission of Lutheran Schools...it'll be crazy hair and pajama day...it'll be Grades K-8 Jump Rope for Heart Day...and there will be early dismissal at 11:15am

Altamont Lutheran Interparish School will also be observing the special week. Today is Casimir Pulaski Day and ALIS observes the day as a school holiday. The Bible verse for the week is: 

Tuesday--Dress Like a Rock Star...music-themed games, and a surprise

Wednesday--Occupation Day (dress like your favorite occupation)...and a Special Person lunch for Grades K, 1, 4 and 5

Thursday--Cooperating Team Color Day (wear the color of your team)...Special Person lunch for Grades 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8

Friday--Kindness Day...wear blue and gold...pizza lunch...bowling
