Homeless Man Arrested in Mattoon on Sexual Assault Charge

A homeless man has been arrested in Mattoon on a charge of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

24-year-old Keon Cooper was also arrested on a count of criminal trespass to state-supported property. It's alleged that Coopher trespassed on property at Sunrise Apartments, a place where he had been banned, and that he assaulted a child while there. Cooper was arrested by Mattoon police just before 8am Wednesday.

Cooper is being held in Coles County Jail.
