The Illinois Senate has worked both sides of the aisle for months to craft a "Grand Bargain" over the state's lack of a budget, and reforms that echo the governor's "turnaround agenda", but on Wednesday the vote was canceled when not enough support was found from Republicans.

The day started with the votes to be taken on workers compensation changes and tax hikes, but votes from the Republicans were disappearing. Senate President John Cullerton is blaming Governor Bruce Rauner for squashing bi-partisan support.

The governor's staff says more work needs to be done on the series of bills to assure it's a good deal for everyone.

Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno is still on the optimistic side and thinks the effort hasn't gone to waste.
