The Effingham Police Department began moving their administration and operations to Effingham City Hall today.

The relocation will allow the demolition of the current police department building and the construction of a replacement facility.

The entrance to the police department will be on the west side of City Hall, the door nearest the "Flame of Hope" statue. If someone needs to visit the police station during normal business hours, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, they may enter the west door of City Hall and take either the stairs or the elevator to the second floor.

If someone needs to visit the police department outside normal business hours, they may pick up the phone located in the City Hall west entryway. The phone will allow them to speak directly to the Effingham Dispatch Center.

Officials anticipate this relocation will last for approximately 16 months.

Those visiting City Hall for other City business are encouraged to use the east entrance.
