Two people were killed and another person was injured in two crashes that occurred in Clark County over the weekend.

State police say the crashes occurred shortly before 4pm Saturday on I-70 near the Martinsville interchange.

In the first crash, a semi driven by 49-year-old James Weaver of Springfield, Missouri was slowed to a near stop in traffic just before the Martinsville exit. A rig driven by 51-year-old Khcicha Gogoladze of Brooklyn, New York came upon Weaver's semi and struck it from behind.

Gogoladze was killed in the crash, as was his passenger 60-year-old Ivan Koudla of Glens Falls, New York. Weaver was not injured.

Police say a semi driven by 28-year-old Satwinder Khinda of Fresno, California slowed for the earlier crash and was rear-ended by a pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Brian Mesnard of Noble. Mesnard was injured and was taken to Terre Haute Union Hospital. Mesnard was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
