The person killed in a fiery crash in Fayette County Thursday has been identified as a Shobonier woman.

Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen said the victim has been identified as 62-year-old Dianna Helton.

Helton's vehicle was northbound on US Route 51 near County Road 1000 North at 12:46pm when the vehicle left the roadway to the west, traveled down an embankment into a ravine, crashed into a creek, then burst into flames.

Authorities identified Helton Friday during an autopsy into her death, after being unable to identify her at the crash scene due to injuries caused by the fire.

Bowen said the cause of Helton's death is still pending.
