Man Injured When Struck by Portion of Tree

A man working to trim a tree by Effingham Country Club was injured Monday morning when he was struck by a portion of the tree.

Shumway Fire Protection District was called to the scene at 11:24am. The man, whose name has not been released by authorities, was airlifted from the scene by Arch Air and was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for examination.

A person at the scene of the incident who knows the injured man said he was examined at the hospital due to a previous injury. Nothing was found wrong and the man was released.
