A report that threatening comments were made by a student at Effingham High School Monday led to an investigation by local sheriff's deputies and school officials, and the report was determined to be unfounded.

Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan Tuesday morning said it was a "he said, she said" situation that ended up being unsubstantiated. Doan sent out an automated message Monday afternoon to parents of EHS students about the incident since he said it was "all over school."

Others have heard of the matter and asked us about it.

Doan said local law enforcement was brought in to investigate the incident. He said the matter was "investigated thoroughly" by authorities and the administration.
