Brownstown school board members have agreed to hire an elementary school principal for next school year.

The school's previous principal left the district too soon before the start of the school year to get a replacement hired, so Superintendent Adam Bussard and high school principal Mike Shackelford have shared the duties this year. The Board voted at this week's meeting to cease the sharing of the duties, clearing the way for the hiring of a principal.

The Board also developed and appointed committees. The committees and their members are: Building/Grounds--Randy Mason, Teresa Barnick and Barb Morrison; School Improvement--John Schaub and Don Bloemker; Business--Kent Kistler and Laura Willms.

The Brownstown Board also hired Mose, Yockey, Brown and Kull to do audit work for the past year; approved an update to the district's anti-bullying policy; and okayed a retirement letter and agreement for Sandra Stine.
