Local Congressman John Shimkus, who chairs the US House Subcommittee on Environment joined two other Republicans Tuesday in endorsing action by President Trump to move ahead with the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines.

Shimkus issued a joint statement with House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden of Oregon and Subcommittee on Energy Chairman Fred Upton of Michigan. The statement reads, "We welcome today's news and we're looking forward to working with a president and an administration that value American energy affordability, jobs, security, and new infrastructure development. It is time for the federal government to stop picking winners and losers in the energy sector."
