Apparent Suicide Attempt in Effingham

A juvenile male was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham Monday due to an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Effingham City Police Chief Jeff Fuesting said police were called at 11:47am about the incident, which occurred at 811 East Jefferson. Chief Fuesting said he's not certain who notified police of the incident. The name of the juvenile is not yet available.

Fuesting said additional information surrounding the incident is still being gathered.
