Blessings in a Backpack, Effingham was recently assisted in their food packing by a team from Washington Savings Bank. The group of employees met at Total Quality Warehouse on a cold Wednesday night to pack nearly 1,000 bags of food for area children. Along with their bag packing skills, they also delivered a generous donation.

Cathy Hayes, a third grade teacher and Blessings board member, commented, “We love hosting businesses and organizations at our packing session. It gives them an understanding of the scope of our mission, and they become ambassadors for our program. Packing a bag is an investment into the life of the child who receives it. We’re humbled by the involvement and generosity of our local businesses, and appreciate the team from Washington Savings Bank.”
