Sales Tax Question Put On Ballot by Dieterich Board

Dieterich school board members voted 7-0 to place the question of a countywide 1% sales tax on the April election ballot.

Revenue generated by the sales tax would go toward new construction or renovation of existing buildings.

The Board heard from Dieterich High School senior Madeline Aherin, a member of this year's Effingham County CEO class, about this year's CEO Experience. The Experience is set for Wednesday, February 8, from 1-5pm at the Effingham Performance Center.

Board members renewed the District's membership in the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, and heard from junior-senior high school principal Kevin Haarman on the recently-completed Dieterich Holiday Tournaments. Newton won both the boys and girls tournaments. Dieterich fell to Newton in the boys championship game while Dieterich's girls finished fourth.
