Another crash occurred at 7:10am Thursday on I-57/70 near the Fayette Avenue interchange in Effingham.

The crash involved a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Casey Holle of Effingham. State police say Holle was merging onto I-57 northbound/I-70 eastbound from Fayette Avenue. A semi was traveling in the lane to the left of Holle's vehicle. Another rig was in the right lane behind and catching up to Holle. When the rig beside Holle passed his vehicle, Holle changed lanes to get out of the way of the rig gaining on him. As Holle changed lanes, he lost control of his pickup on the snowy roadway and skidded to the left. The front of Holle's pickup truck struck a concrete median barrier, disabling the pickup, which came to rest partially on the left shoulder and partially on the left lane of the interstate.

Holle was injured and was taken to the Emergency Department at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. No tickets were issued.
