Today is the big day for the liver transplant surgery for little Annaka Robison and her donor, Nancy Ervin.

The procedure is taking place in Pittsburgh.

Nancy teaches with Annaka's mom, JaLana, at Effingham Junior High School. Nancy's husband, Ryan, teaches with JaLana's husband, Josh, at Effingham High School. Many people stepped up to be tested when Annaka was found to have biliary atresia, a rare liver disease, but Nancy was found to be the best candidate tested.

The portion taken of Nancy's liver will be sufficient to serve Annaka.

We'll keep you up-to-date on the procedure.
