EJ Water Cooperative has received a grant and a loan for water distribution work and infrastructure improvements.

Stephanie Westendorf of EJ said the $40,000 grant was to address flooding last winter at three locations, two in Effingham County, one in Clay County. The flooding affected river crossings and caused outages. Westendorf said the work has been completed, and said the grant was to reimburse EJ for the cost of the project.

EJ has also received a $2.11 million loan for anticipated water line expansion work in Christian County. The work will stretch from Rochester to Mt. Auburn, as EJ continues to expand its reach.

Around 200 customers will benefit from the project that will take place during 2017.
