Teutopolis Woman Injured in Crash Friday

A Teutopolis woman was injured in a crash in Effingham County on Friday morning.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reported 78-year-old Mary Lou Deters was traveling on 1600th Avenue north of Teutopolis just before noon Friday. The SUV Deters was driving ran off the left side of the roadway. Deters tried to correct, and the unit struck a deep culvert embankment, partially ramping a driveway. The unit landed onto the driver's side and stopped in a ravine on the east side of the driveway.

Deters had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued.
