Unemployment Rates Continue to Drop Lower in October

Effingham County's October unemployment rate was down to 4.2%.

The rate is down from 4.8% in October 2015.

All area counties saw lower jobless rates in October than one year earlier.

The numbers: Coles County--5.5%, down from 6.3%; Cumberland County--4.8%, down from 5.1%; Shelby County--5.7%, down from 6.1%; Clay County--5.8%, down from 7.1%; Fayette County--5.6%, down from 6.2%; and Jasper County--5.8%, down from 6.5%.
