Jasper school board members acted on several personnel items at this week's meeting.

Volunteers were approved, including Sherry Anderson, Katie Harvey, Jackie Judy and Marie McCrillis as Newton Elementary School classroom volunteers, Kevin Colclasure and Thomas "Skip" Rogers, Jr. as Newton Elementary mentors, Steve Meinhart and John Grunloh as high school volunteer baseball coaches, and Kyle Woods as high school volunteer boys basketball coach.

Resignations were accepted from Tina Shipman as junior high volleyball assistant coach and Angie Homan as a paraprofessional at Ste. Marie Elementary. Approval was given of Nikki Westendorf as a school nurse.

The Board approved the tentative tax levy for the coming fiscal year with final action expected at the December meeting, and reviewed the school report card and PARCC test scores from the State with more information available online at www.illinoisreportcard.com

Per the district's attorney, approval was given to consider the placement of individual students in special education programs and other matters relating to individual students, due to a change that arose in the previous 24 hours.

Following a closed session, the Jasper board approved Diane Schackmann's letter of retirement, effective June 30, 2017. The motion said the decision came "with much regret" due to Schackmann's performance through the years.
