Effingham resident Tomas Canfield is headed for prison after a negotiated plea agreement in Effingham County Circuit Court.

The 24-year-old Canfield Tuesday pleaded guilty to a felony count of threatening a public official. The charge was filed in December 2015. A count of transmission of obscene material was dismissed along with counts of harassment of a witness and intimidation of a police officer as well as cyberstalking.

Canfield was sentenced to four years in prison and will serve one year mandatory supervised release once out of prison.

Two other cases pending against Canfield were also addressed as part of the plea bargain.

Canfield was sentenced to three years in prison on a felony charge of manufacture or delivery of cannabis, and that sentence will be served consecutive to the other count. He was also sentenced to three years in prison on another felony drug charge, but that sentence will run concurrent with the other sentences.

One of the offenses dates back to 2010 but involved a violation of his probation on that offense.
