Promotion in Sheriff's Department

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has announced the recent promotion of Eric Habing from Correctional Officer to Correctional Officer Corporal.

Corporal Habing has been employed at the Sheriff's Office since December 2000 when he was employed as a part-time Correctional Officer. He became a full-time Correctional Officer in September 2002. He graduated from the St. Clair County Correctional Academy in 2003 and the Illinois Police Training Institute as a part-time police officer in 2002.

In his new position, Habing will be in charge of shift supervision for Correctional Officers and will assist the Jail Administrator with the administrative duties of the Effingham County Jail. 

Habing and his wife, Stephanie, and their three boys reside in Teutopolis.
