Salem Man Injured in Car/Deer Crash at Edgewood

A Salem man was injured in a car-deer crash on the interstate near Edgewood.
The incident occurred at 8:52pm Wednesday on I-57 when a deer wandered out onto the roadway. The deer was struck by a car driven by 78-year-old Frederick Gentry. The contact caused the deployment of multiple air bags inside the vehicle.
Gentry was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
