Man Injured When Hit by Car; Other City Police Happenings

An elderly Effingham man was injured when he was struck by the mirror on a vehicle at Banker and Kagay just before 7am Monday.
City police say 88-year-old Hubert McCarty was injured, but refused treatment. No citations were issued.
The vehicle was driven by 38-year-old Sarah Hurst of Effingham.

City police are investigating a residential burglary that occurred at an apartment at 1710 Ford Avenue.
The incident occurred sometime between Saturday and Tuesday afternoon. A purse was stolen, along with four credit cards, ID card, Social Security card, and medical cards.

Police are also looking into a burglary from a motor vehicle that occurred sometime between 7pm Monday and 5pm Tuesday.
Items were taken while the vehicle was parked in the 1300 block. A bag was stolen along with a PlayStation 4, a PlayStation 4 game, a sweater and a headset.
