Update on Human Remains Found in Jasper County

Back in March, we reported on the discovery of human remains found in Jasper County. A local resident had discovered skeletal human remains near Newton while walking in a brushy area near the Embarras River.

Jasper County Coroner Jason Meyer updated us on the status of the investigation into the identity of the individual. The skull is currently being reconstructed with the hope of making a positive ID, and DNA samples have been taken to assist in this process.
