With Veteran's Day approaching, this is the time of the year to think about the military. McDonald's local owners/operators of Central Illinois want to continue to show their gratitude to the military through the third annual "Buy One, Give One. McCafe Coffee for Our Military" program.

Last year, McDonald's local owners-operators throughout Central Illinois and Peoria/Bloomington donated over 566,000 cups of MCafe Coffee and incorporated over 7,000 handwritten letters into care packages sent to troops. Many much-appreciated items were also donated from McDonald's customers and area schools during the second annual "Buy One, Give One. McCafe Coffee for Our Military" program.

This year, for every cup of coffee sold from October 31 through November 13, McDonald's Restaurants of Central Illinois and Peoria/Bloomington will match it, and send a cup to active and veteran military members. The McCafe coffee will be sent in the form of fresh coffee grounds, so military personnel can brew it fresh wherever they would like.

Along with the coffee donation, a selection of letters and/or pictures from Central Illinois-area schools will be included in every care package. Every school in the area will have the opportunity to create and write special notes to include with the McCafe coffee being sent in the care packages.

"We are very excited to kick off our "Buy One, Give One. McCafe Coffee for Our Military program for the third consecutive year," said Blake Linders, owner of the McDonald's in Effingham. "Our military personnel are so important to us and we are extremely grateful for everything they have done for our communities. We hope that our McCafe coffee and letter donation continues to touch many of our active and veteran military personnel."
