The EIU graduate will be recognized as a distinguished alum at the university.

Past honorees include Sean Payton, Jerry Van Dyke, Joan Allen, Mike Shanahan, John Malkovich, Effingham native Randall Arney, Governor Jim Edgar and Jasper County native Burl Ives.

Fatheree quipped, "I never thought I'd be included in the same group as the snowman on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (Ives) and all of these other amazing individuals when I was an undergraduate student." The Top 10 finalist for the Global Teacher Prize added, "I'm thrilled to represent the Panthers on Saturday. Go Blue!"
