An Effingham man was taken into custody Thursday afternoon on warrants following an investigation by multiple agencies.

28-year-old Michael Whitaker of Effingham was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office and the Effingham City Police Department without incident. The sheriff's office received a report from a neighbor about 3:30pm Thursday that Whitaker was at the residence. County and city police units responded and took Whitaker into custody on two warrants without incident.

One warrant charges failure to appear in court on a petition to revoke Whitaker's probation for unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, and failure to appear in court on a count of possession of controlled substance.
