Centralia Man Killed in Weekend Crash

A Centralia man was killed in a crash over the weekend.

62-year-old William S. Hicks was traveling on a rural road at Sassafras Lane outside Kell in Marion County just after 1am Sunday. State police say Hicks' pickup truck failed to reduce speed at a T intersection. When Hicks braked, the vehicle carried too much speed and skidded through the intersection. The truck ran off the roadway and into a deep ditch. The unit struck the ditch embankment and caught fire, becoming fully engulfed.

Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene.
