With the fall season upon us, Effingham city officials remind all homeowners within the City of Effingham to be aware of the City’s No Burn Policy. The policy was implemented by City Council approval in May to better serve the citizens of Effingham.

Homeowners may only burn leaves and yard waste on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays within the corporate limits of the City of Effingham. City Fire Department and Police Department will monitor and recurring infractions will be dealt with by the standard fine as defined in the City Ordinance. The hours for burning on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays are sunrise to 6 pm.

The City desires to manage leaf burning in order to help citizens who have expressed concerns that open burning is problematic to their health. City Officials urge all citizens to responsibly maintain their property and be good neighbors.
