A Kentucky man was killed early Tuesday morning in a crash on I-57 just south of Effingham.

State police report 51-year-old Rudy W. Cobb of Burna, Kentucky was headed south near the south trilevel when he lost control of his rig. The semi struck a guardrail on the west shoulder of the interstate. The rig traveled along the guardrail for several hundred feet before overturning onto its top and skidding down an embankment where it came to rest.

Police say that at some point during the incident, Cobb was ejected from the cab of the truck and was fatally injured.

The crash happened at 1:41am.
