Sunday Evening Crash on Dieterich Blacktop

Two people were injured in a Sunday evening crash on the Dieterich-Clay City Blacktop.

The crash happened at 4:36pm about two miles south of Dieterich at 700th Avenue.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Joseph Lidy of Effingham failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by 82-year-old William Watson of Zionsville, Indiana.

Both drivers were injured in the crash. Lidy was airlifted from the scene to Carle Hospital in Urbana, while Watson was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Deputies say citations are pending.
