Motorcyclist Injured in Crash on City's South Side

An Effingham motorcyclist was injured Thursday evening on the city's south side.

55-year-old Michael Wade was riding a cycle on South Banker near Walk Avenue when Wade lost control of the unit. The cycle crossed all lanes of traffic and overturned into a ditch.

Wade was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

The crash happened just before 7pm. No citations were issued.

Police are investigating another burglary from a motor vehicle and another theft from Oakridge Cemetery.

The burglary from a motor vehicle occurred while the vehicle was parked at 101 S. Merchant sometime between 8am and 4pm Tuesday. A purse was stolen, along with a wallet, driver's license, gift card and an undetermined amount of cash.

The theft involved a bench that was taken from a grave at the cemetery sometime prior to 10:28am Thursday.
