Another Slew of Burglaries from Vehicles in City

Effingham City Police are still working to find who is behind a series of burglaries from vehicles that have plagued in the last several days.

Almost a dozen more incidents were reported to police over the weekend.

One incident was reported while a vehicle was parked in the 200 block of West St. Louis between 6pm Thursday and 8am Saturday. A purse was taken with checkbook, debit card, driver's license and ID card.

Another incident occurred while the vehicle was parked in the 100 block of West Wabash between 11pm Thursday and 7:54am Friday. A speaker was taken from the vehicle.

A third incident occurred while a vehicle was parked in the 400 block of North Banker between 1am and 6:30am Friday. A purse and an undetermined amount of cash were taken.

Another incident occurred while the vehicle was parked in the 900 block of Lynn Drive between 11pm Saturday and 10:44am Sunday. Multiple keys were stolen. A separate incident in that block of Lynn Drive occurred between 11pm Saturday and 2pm Sunday. A cell phone and a set of keys were stolen. Burglaries from two other vehicles in the 900 block of Lynn occurred between 1am and 8:27pm Sunday. A vaccuum was stolen and a key.

Burglaries from two motor vehicles occurred while the vehicles were parked in the 1000 block of Gordon Avenue between 11pm Saturday and 9:46am Sunday. A backup camera and a GPS were stolen.

Another incident occurred while another vehicle was parked in the 1000 block of Gordon on Sunday between midnight and 10:08am. A GPS and a Code Reader were stolen.

One other burglary occurred while a vehicle was parked in the 1000 block of Lynn Drive Sunday between 1am and 10:06pm. A purse was stolen, along with a wallet, driver's license, credit cards and an undetermined amount of cash.

Meanwhile, city and county officers are investigating a theft of a motor vehicle from the 100 block of West Eiche Avenue on Saturday sometime between 8:37am and 9:07am. The vehicle was later recovered by Effingham County Sheriff's deputies in the county. Missing from the recovered vehicle were the license plates, pliers, side cutters, a screwdriver, an ID badge and insurance papers.

In addition, city police are investigating incidents of criminal damage to a motor vehicle. One occurred while the vehicle was parked in the 200 block of South Linden Street between 11pm Thursday and 6am Friday.

The other incident occurred while the vehicle was parked at 1707 Avenue of Mid America between 12:30am and 1:30am Friday. The windshield was damaged.
