A workshop on Election Education will be held Friday morning in Effingham.

The workshop will feature Tom Newman from the State Board of Elections and Assistant Attorney General Christopher Boggs. Newman is a part of the Campaign Disclosure Division at the State Board and will focus on election finance rules, while Boggs will discuss the Freedom of Information Act and the Open Meetings Act.

There's no cost to attend, and no advance registration is needed. The event is completely non-partisan.

The workshop will be held at the University of Illinois Extension Office at 1209 Wenthe Drive. Extension partners with the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce to provide education required by local government officials.
