Sheriff's Department Investigating Report of Shot Fired

The Effingham County Sheriff's Department is investigating reports of a shot being fired in the air by a motorist Friday morning.

Effingham County Chief Deputy Sheriff Paul Kuhns said a passerby reported a man sitting in a parked vehicle put a handgun out of the vehicle in which he was sitting and fired a shot into the air.

The incident happened about 11:30am along US Route 40 near Funkhouser Road. Kuhns said no one was injured.

The sheriff's department is investigating the incident.
