An Effingham County Sheriff's deputy was injured in a crash Wednesday night in Effingham.

The crash happened at 11pm at the intersection of Henrietta and Jefferson.

Effingham City Police investigated the crash. Police report a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Kevin Myhre of Effingham turned left and struck a County squad car driven by 33-year-old Deputy Travis Buhnerkempe of Watson. Myhre was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Buhnerkempe was injured and was taken by private vehicle to St. Anthony's, where he was treated, then released.

Myhre was ticketed for DUI and for failure to yield.

Effingham County Sheriff Dave Mahon said Buhnerkempe was on routine patrol when the incident occurred and finished his shift.
