Crash in Marion County Injures Five

Five people were injured in a crash in Marion County Monday afternoon.

The crash happened on Illinois Route 37, about a half-mile south of Kell Road at 1:15pm.

Illinois State Police report a pickup truck driven by 62-year-old Steven Fritschle of Olney backed from a private drive onto the highway. Police say Fritschle backed into the path of a car driven by 46-year-old Dawn Harris of Louisville.

Harris was injured as were four passengers in her car, 24-year-old Stephanie Holt of Dix and a three-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy, and a nine-month-old boy, all from Louisville. Harris was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, as were the four injured passengers in her car.

Fritschle was cited for failure to yield.
