The Illinois State Fair has always been an agricultural fair, but over the two years there has been a renewed focus on agriculture. The best day to see that on display is today, August 16th, Agriculture Day, at the Illinois State Fair. There are many events happening today to attend to encourage fairgoers to learn and get involved more with agriculture.

Two of the cutest events on Ag Day are the children's Pedal Pull Competition and the Cutest Little Farmer contest. Pedal Pull is a contest inspired by truck and tractor pulls, where the child uses a pedal tractor to pull a weight. This event takes place at the Shed at 1:30 pm. The Cutest Little Farmer Contest involves some of the cutest fairgoers dressing up in their farming best and it will take place at 2 pm in the Department of Agriculture Tent.

Agriculture Day will culminate with the Governor's Sale of Champions at 4 pm in the Coliseum. This event is where all Junior Grand Champion Livestock will be auctioned off with the money going to 4-H, FFA, and the individual exhibitor.

The night closes with a Grandstand concert by county superstar, Dierks Bentley and Tucker Beathard. Ticket are still available at the Grandstand Box Office or via Ticketmaster.com.

The Illinois State Fair runs daily through August 21 in Springfield
